BIOARC connects the agricultural sector and the field of architecture by developing bio-based building materials from agricultural by-products of four plants: rice, wheat, sunflower, and hops. Bacteria are integrated as co-creators through a biomineralization process.

The project takes a bioregional approach, working closely with local communities, farmers, craftspeople, and industries to develop local value chains that reduce carbon emissions and promote the principles of the circular economy.

By connecting stakeholders across four European bioregions, the project integrates a participatory design process, ensuring that the materials developed are not only environmentally sustainable but also culturally rooted and economically viable.

The project collaborates with the NEB hub (New European Bauhaus) on its results and impacts, while also contributing to regenerative design principles in the construction sector. BIOARC aims to support local economies while fostering resilience against environmental and economic change.
