TRIO : A MEAL OF A THREESOMECÄCILIA VERWEYEN & OMER POLAK

(IS / DE)

Performance, Design, consumerism

In the last decades food took an important place in our social and romantic life. Eating is much more than a basic need, it’s an experience, a moment, a memory. It makes us use all our senses for a short time experience. The taste, the smell, the textures, the colors and even the sound of the bite influence the eating and sharing experience. Food has also a great ability to connect people, make friends or stimulate sexual desire.

During 10 minutes of live performance, the limits and the emotional feelings of the participants towards manners and food taboos will be tested. What role does the dining table play, why do we use cutlery? What makes the eating experience social and what aren't we allowed to do around the table? During each performance, two strangers will meet for the first time alone around the dining table in an empty room.

During the last years Cäcilia and Omer realized different Design and Interior projects before they started working together on food design topics.

The performance TRIO will be the second project that Omer and Cäcilia are presenting together afer realizing crEATe No3 -art meets food events in May 2018 hosted by the Decal' Quai Art Space, Montreux.
