OPENING NIGHTCERES COLLECTIVE
(CH)
Sound, Installation, Party, non-human, nature
In the “Saint-Saëns” room at the “Trois Couronnes” hotel, this seasons’ festival opens on a promise of synesthetic experience. Sounds and lights drift on a foliaged stage created by the Ceres collective that sets this program’s scene. There, you will taste Chioses Tears, a delicate herbal and resinous flavor floating between the earth and sky.
On the Greek island of Chios, beyond the inlet, rises Izmir and its many times occupied walls surrounded my mastic trees. From their trunks scored in July flow tears called “mastica”. Since Antiquity, nobody has been able to duplicate it, anchoring it firmly in its native land. Its flavor resonates through mythology, the middle-eastern memory and the imaginary of those who tasted it. Under its spell, you will dream and dance to the music by djs Maxine Yolanda and Emma Souharce on foodculture days opening night. An event in collaboration with Helène Mariethoz and her research on mastica.
For nearly two years the collective Ceres plant greenery in the Geneva nights. For their compositions, the five girls choose according to the site seasonal plants and materials recovery in structures which metamorphose and sublimate the space. Maria, Bianca, Rosa, Sara and Sarah have different backgrounds and a common horizon: to throb the night with the pulse of the sap. Photography, art history, fashion design, fine arts and landscaping come together in their organic worlds in which they project mappings, invite dj, invent cocktails. Ceres is the name of a flower that hatches under the moon.
