TASTESTONES

Daniel Parnitzke + Fortuna Forest

@nextones is an international festival of music, audiovisual arts and research, which will take place in Val D'Ossola, Northern Italy, on 26th to 31st July. Some of the participating artists are Armin Linke, Tomás Saraceno, Pauline Oliveros and Marina Herlop.

foodculture days takes part in the second edition of the festival, working with artist and designer Daniel Parnitzke to create a space of encounters and interactions to observe how knowledge circulates and is metabolised in this alpine and rural territory. The open-source and site-specific project will bring to light local traditions and connect with regional experts to reflect on resources, energetical & thermodynamic processes, abundance and scarcity in a global context of biodiversity loss and geological alterations.

The five-day research-action includes the conception and collective construction of an oven using bio-materials sourced on site. The findings and observations are shared during a final activation on Friday afternoon in collaboration with Fortuna Forest, where the oven will facilitate a collective cooking using foraged plants and local ingredients from the surrounding foodscapes of the region of Oira.

Daniel is curious about how change can be enacted. His work revolves around notions of low-tech, local resources and community, which he aims to bring together through his collective constructions. https://danielparnitzke.de

Fortuna Forest (@fortuna.forest) is a collective born in 2020 in the forests surrounding Berlin. The duo uses food as a tool to interact with the environment through artistic and immersive exploration, often combining it with acoustic contributions from emergent artists.
