The food collective Kitchuan undertakes to disrupt foodculture days’ kitchen by constructing a set of brick fire stoves that enable steaming, frying, and smoking. The building of these stoves and cooking unfold throughout the entire day, during which different recipes are offered according to the progress of the construction.
Kitchuan thus act as agents for street food and reflect on labor and resources, starting from personal memories and encounters in the form of recipes from China, Hungary, and France.

Kitchuan (Shen He, Blanka D. Major and Juliette Martin) is a food collective born in 2020, from the experience of living and cooking together. They studied architecture together at ETH Zurich, where a focused work at the Chair of Philip Ursprung gave the incentive to start the collective. They are interested in the multiple intersections between cooking and architecture, exploring shared memories, traditions, and identity through performative events.
Shen He, 何珅
(*1992, Bazhong, CN), studied architecture and a lot of other things. He recently pursued his free master's thesis at ETH Zürich, investigating the hidden interiors of historical queer spaces in Zurich. He is also part of Querformat, a collective researching the intersection of queerness, architecture and space. He works as a Teaching Assistant at the Chair of Anna Pugjaner at ETH Zurich.
Blanka Dominika Major
(*1994, Miskolc, HU), studied Art History at TU Berlin and Zhejiang University, Architecture at ETSAB and ETH Zurich. She completed her studies with the free master thesis «food forms» together with Severin Jann and Valentin Ribi in 2022.
Together with Fabienne Girsberger and Grace Oberholzer, she started the event series «Essen und Zuhören», to give space to the stories of women. She works as a research assistant at the Chair of Alexandre Theriot at ETH Zurich. She is part of ZAS*.
Juliette Isaline Martin
(*1997, Pau, FR), is studying Architecture at ETH Zurich. She is currently working with Pamela Rosenkranz in her artistic practice. She is especially interested in the intersection of virtuality and reality, investigating digital image-making in her work.
